Enhance your natural beauty and kiss goodbye to self-doubt. With Emma May’s semi-permanent makeup treatments, you can achieve a consistent, flawless look, boost your confidence, and eliminate the need for daily, time-consuming makeup routines.
Services
Imagine flawless brows, defined eyes, and luscious lips from the moment you wake up
Brows
Powder Brow
Creates a soft, powdered, makeup-filled look offering defined yet natural-looking, long-lasting eyebrows with a gradient effect
Ombre Brow
Creating a soft, shaded brow with a gradient effect, lighter at the front and darker towards the tail, mimicking powdered makeup for a defined yet natural look. Ideal for oily skin or those wanting a fuller, makeup-like brow
Combination Brow
Blends the natural look of hairstrokes at the front of the brow with the fullness and definition of powder/ombre shading in the arch and tail, creating a bespoke, defined, yet realistic finish for fuller, dimensional brows. It's ideal for sparse brows or those wanting both natural texture and enhanced density
Eyes
Upper Eyeliner
A smoky eyeliner is applied to the upper eyelid. The shade and depth are chosen to complement the eye shape and eye colour. This treatment creates a more made-up look, replacing the need to apply eyeliner.
Lower Eyeliner
Helps to frame the eyes, making them appear brighter, more defined, and giving the illusion of thicker, fuller lashes.
Eyeliner - Soft shaded
This technique creates a beautiful, winged eyeliner, but the shading keeps it soft and natural.
Lips
Lip liner and blush
Defining the lip liner with a soft, blended color for a natural tint
Full Lip Blush
Liner on the Vermilion border, the colour on the line is then beautifully diffused throughout the lip towards the center with a shading technique for a seamless natural blend.
Beauty marks
A beauty mark or beauty spot on the face can draw attention to particular areas of beauty, i.e. cheek bones, lips etc. Generally, less than a centimeter across it may also be considered a beauty mark if located on the shoulder, neck or breast.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is semi-permanent makeup?
Semi-permanent makeup (or micropigmentation) is a technique that implants natural pigments into the skin's upper dermal layer to enhance features including brows, eyeliner and lips for long-lasting, smudge-proof results, saving daily makeup time, and enhancing natural beauty. Unlike traditional tattoos, it gradually fades over years, allowing for trend updates, and uses fine needles to create effects like hair-like strokes or soft shading, requiring touch-ups for upkeep.
The procedure itself involves small particles of pigment being deposited into the upper layer of the dermis. This pigment will stay in the skin for a number of months, gradually breaking down and fading with time, A touch up is included 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment.
How long does it last?
Semi-permanent makeup can generally last two to five years before a color refresh is needed. The exact duration can vary significantly from person to person, and annual touch-ups are highly recommended to maintain a fresh and defined appearance
Factors Affecting Longevity
The lifespan of SPMU depends on several individual and environmental factors including:
Skin Type: Oily skin types tend to break down pigments faster than dry skin types, requiring more frequent touch-ups.
Lifestyle: Frequent sun exposure, swimming in chlorinated pools, and use of sunbeds will cause the pigment to fade more quickly. Using SPF on the treated area helps protect the pigment.
Skincare Routine: Using harsh skincare products, especially those containing retinoids (Vitamin A), fruit acids (AHA), or undergoing chemical peels and microdermabrasion on the treated area, can accelerate fading.
Metabolism and Age: Your body's natural cell rejuvenation and metabolism affect how quickly the pigment breaks down. Older, drier skin may retain pigment longer than younger skin with a faster metabolism.
Is SPMU painful?
The service can be a little uncomfortable for those who are more sensitive. However, an anesthetic is applied before the treatment to keep this to a minimum. Many of my clients have fallen asleep during their treatment with the average pain scale being a 2/3 out of 10.
How long does the appointment last?
Depending on what treatment and technique is required, it could last anywhere between 1.5 to 3 hours
Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my service?
- Do not drink coffee, alcohol or energy drinks on the day of treatment
- Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen 24 hours before treatment
- Do not tan or have intense sun exposure 3 days before treatment
- No waxing 2-3 days before treatment
- No chemical peels, dermabrasion, laser or any other intense treatments 2 weeks before treatment
- Shower and wash your hair as you need to take extra care not to get your face wet for several days
What to expect during your treatment?
- A consultation appointment will be booked prior to your treatment. This will last around 30 minutes. A patch test will be performed on the skin at least 48 hours before the procedure
- On the day of the SPMU treatment, an anesthetic is applied to reduce any discomfort, this can take up to 30minutes to begin to numb the area
- When the numbing agent has soaked in, I will start by drawing on the desired shape. Brows, Eyeliner or lips are measured perfectly to complement your unique face shape and size.
- We will discuss and choose a colour pigment for your treatment. All my pigments are cruelty-free and vegan friendly. We proceed with the micropigmentation
- Once that's finished, I will clean the area thoroughly
- After the service, I will explain all the after care, providing a brochure and a free vitamin A&D sample to use whilst healing, then you will be ready to go!
Are there any pre-existing conditions that interfere with consideration for a SPMU treatment?
- Pregnancy and/or breastfeeding
- On keloids or if you have tendency to keloid, birthmarks or moles
- Diabetic (doctor's note is required)
- Serious diseases such as cancer, epilepsy, autoimmune disorders (doctor's note is required)
- Circulatory disorders (doctor's note is required)
- Any bleeding disorders (doctor's note is required)
- You're taking blood thinning medication

- You've recently had Botox (must wait 1 month)
- If you have a sunburn
- After waxing (must wait 3 days)
- After chemical peels (must wait two weeks)
Is there any after-procedure care?
All the information you need will be provided in your aftercare brochure. Some of the key things to avoid are:
- Increased sweating, swimming, hot sauna, hot bath or jacuzzi, sun tanning or salon tanning
- Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycol Acid on the face or neck
- Picking, peeling, or scratching of the micro pigmented area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment.
- Avoid areas where there is a lot of dust and airborne debris.
- Drinking alcohol in excess as it may lead to slow healing of wounds.
- Touching the area except for when cleaning and applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab.
- Before showering apply a layer of post-care cream to protect the area from moisture.
